Sizing for a bracelet
1. Choose the wrist you plan to wear the bracelet on.
2. Cut a piece of scotch tape about 9-10 inches long and wrap it completely around your wrist with sticky side to skin, overlapping the ends.
Be sure you have the tape positioned over the WRIST BONE.
3. Gently slide scissors under the tape and CUT STRAIGHT across the tape..
4. Carefully peel the tape off and lay it out STRAIGHT onto a sheet of paper.
5. Take a ruler and measure in inches the EXACT length of tape.
6. We recommend you repeat the process to check that you get the same measurement both times.
A 7-inch is good for small delicate wrists while 8 inches is for more proud wrists. If you're not sure about which one to choose, you can measure your wrist to ensure what size sterling silver bracelet you should get. Get a string or flexible ruler and wrap it around your wrist just after your wrist bone (the bone part that's below the pinky side of your wrist). Add ¾ to 1 inch and this will give you a better idea about which sterling silver bracelet size to order. What size you order can also depend on how loose you want the sterling silver bracelet.
About Silver Chain Lengths
7 and 8 inch silver chains are usually worn as women's bracelets.
9 and 10 inch lighter gauge silver chains are usually worn as anklets.
9 and 10 inch heavier gauge silver chains are usually worn as men's bracelets.
14 and 16 inch silver chains are chokers, or necklaces for small children.
18, 20, and 22 inch silver chains are the most popular lengths for women's necklaces.
Some 18 inch silver chains also work well as necklaces for boys (or men with small necks).
22 and 24 inch silver chains are the most popular lengths for men's necklaces.
About Silver Chain Guage
Every silver chain manufacturer uses a completely different, arbitrary set of gauge designations for the silver chains it produces, so there is no standardization of gauges across the trade. Thus, one wholesaler's "Figaro 150" might be another wholesaler's "Figaro 220" even though the two silver chains are exactly the same design, thickness and weight. The ONLY way to compare wholesale silver chains and pricing is comparing the physical dimensions and gram-weights.
